During our final music class shabang, the hostess created a music wonderland. The kids got to sing Old MacDonald with little people farm animals and a barn. Then they had a chance to sing Twinkle Little Star with their own personal stars to twinkle. Finally, the kids moved into the "jungle" room and got masks to sing an Alligator Monkey song. Talia and Tiago loved the masks and especially loved the snapping action. When I can get Talia to preform on cue like a Monkey, I'll post Talia singing the monkey song.

Newest Aerobics Instructor
Tiago had an enormous amount of energy to expend the other day. Whenever this happens, he starts making choices that are less than beneficial for everyone including himself. After all his options were presented to him, he came up with his own option. For over an hour Tiago was doing this "workout". I loved watching his facial expressions and how his mood would change when the music would stop:
Talia looks like she could definitely have a future in dancing as well.

Surf's Up
This past week Fernando had time off. With plans to improve our home, we opted to stay here. Fernando worked really hard to get the office up and running. He put up some new bookshelves and my favorite--a shoe shelf!
The kids worked hard on making these surf boards. Tiago used a hammer and pen to create his board while Mia relied on tape.

TMI Armpits/BO
So if you have decided to read this post, you are brave. I probably shouldn't be sharing this, but I found it kind of funny. Anyone who knows me well, knows I hate my excessive sweating. These same people have gone to great lengths (not successful by any means) to try to convince me that "it's not that bad" or "everybody sweats". Neither statements are true, but I understand their good intentions. I have come to terms with my sweating and try to convince myself that it is all for the best. I chalk it up to being a humbling factor since nothing else really hinders my ego and my over excessive talking. The armpit sweat just limits my hand gestures to below the elbow movements (most of the time).
Today, in Sacrament meeting, I got a whiff of something nasty in Tiago's hair. I kept smelling it and thinking "man, that's stanky! What on earth would make his hair smell that bad?" Then, I realized where his head had been resting for most of the meeting. . .that's right--my shoulder area. It was so bad that I left church to go home and change. The embarrassment I would have felt and more importantly the offensive smell I would have been sharing all during nursery wasn't necessary. I giggled most of the way home.
It was an excellent choice. 15 kids in nursery for 2 hours with multiple classroom changes and being on tap non stop led to some pretty profuse sweating as it was.

Conspiracy Theory
Do you remember this post or this one? Well, it seems that we aren't the only family who has been inconvenienced by a dysfunctional automatic garage door. Fernando tried to tell me about this government interference and I just laughed for a really long time. Then other people began telling me about this mysterious interference and I lightly chuckled. As we tried (and failed) various fix it your self techniques, I was ready to believe this conspiracy. The nail in the preverbal coffin was this news brief informing all of us in the radius of the NSA our garage doors aren't going to work anytime soon. We "have two options: either retrofit their doors to change the frequency, at a cost of $50-$125, or wait and see if the NSA decides to change their frequency." LAME!!
When I break things even by accident, I fix it. Instead, this National Security Agency has found the loop hole of the law that says our garage doors are unauthorized and thereby not their responsibility. What about the Garage Door Company. . .they are thrilled that we have to buy new stuff from them to make it work! Did I say LAME! Obviously none of these people have come home with groceries and grumpy/sleeping kids and have to turn off the car to walk into the house and open the garage door from the wall unit.

Eye Glasses
Mother's day was really nothing more than another day, but in a good way. Sunday brought breakfast in bed (which was promptly taken back to the kitchen cause sleeping in crumbs isn't fun), sleeping in and taking a nap, mothering 15 yes 15 nursery kids under the age of 2, and eating a delicious dinner that was co-made by Fernando and I. We even tried a homemade guava drink. I think I spent most of the time smelling the guava in the kitchen and thinking of Snow boarding.
Most notable were the 6 cards Mia made for me and the ones she helped her siblings make. Most generous was all the sleep time I got when Fernando was wasted. Most surprising was finding out at church from an ophthalmologist about potentially being free from contacts. I guess the military every once in awhile extends the PRK surgery to dependents. Stipulations: not pregnant or breast feeding for the past or future 6 months (check), steady eye prescriptions in a certain range of poor visibility (check), not worn contacts for the past 30 days (ARG!). Oh well. I have banned myself from the convenience of my contacts and ordered new glasses online (we'll see how that goes) and hope to go under the knife a month from now! (ok I am sure the offer will be gone by that time, but I still got to try)
