Who Knew?

My parents came for a short visit and much needs to be said, but one of the most surprising things was discovering the Missions. San Antonio has several, the most famous being the Alamo.
On one overcast and drizzly day we found our way around the Mission trails and enjoyed a little Texas history.

One more thing to add to the "places to visit" list for potential visitors. You should come check them out. Hotel Tovar is always open.

Oh, Bee-have! Part 2

So today at the zoo, while watching the cute new Gibbon climb around on the ropes, Mia was stung by a bee. She was stung a little lower down the thigh, but still. I have the habit of never bringing a stroller to the zoo. My kids have legs and should use them. We usually go when we are one of the 5 families in the zoo so it isn't much of a problem. Mia was seen by security and given a benadryl type topical analgesic with an ice pack. The lady then told me to watch for a reaction and meandered away.

Now, the zoo trip had to go on. Mia was unable to walk and really is too big to be carried for any long distance. The only option left was buying an overpriced zoo stroller and deal with the fight of who gets to sit in the double stroller. So much for using the zoo as a work out for the kids. Poor Mia. Thank heavens for the beach area. They acted almost like the pools of Bethesda in their healing powers. Mia, who was unable to stand because of the intensifying pain of the bee sting, jumped up and ran to the beach front.

In all reality, I am sure it still hurt, but the idea of playing in the cool water overpowered the pain.
