When Mom is away the children will. . .

We checked out a very accurate book from the library the other day. The book is called "Day Out with Daddy". An easy read, but full of deep insights. When I took my little trip to Utah to celebrate my mom's graduation, the kids got a week full of fun that I hardly ever attempt. One might chalk this up to endurance. . .in other words you run a different pace in a marathon than a sprint. Or the fact that men are generally more energetic and willing to do the sort of rough and tumble play essential to child development. But, whatever the reason, thank heavens that Fernando is the man he is and that there really can be too much of a good thing. (otherwise, my kids would have preferred me on a permanent vacation.) The pictures come from trips to the zoo, a train/metro ride to the Smithsonian museums, and hikes at nearby mountains.

Enjoys these snippets of reality.

Dr Tovar

Fernando can now officially be called Dr Fernando Tovar and/or Captain Tovar as of Saturday. That's right 5 years of early hour studying and many tests later, Fernando has a new prefix he can technically used when ordering airline tickets or filling out surveys. In all seriousness, we are all really proud of his accomplishments. Fernando's parents, sisters, and one of his aunts were able to come as well as my brother and sister-in-law.

The ceremony was impressive with all the coats of many colors. The Marine Band played Pomp and Circumstance as well as other fantastic songs. Live bands always make music better. From the pictures you can gather how the kids enjoyed the pomp. They were pretty good considering the DVD player decided not to function after they selected their movie and had their head phones on.

I don't know what we are going to do now that he isn't a professional student. Good bye long Christmas and summer breaks. Hello adulthood.
