A Holiday Planned by Others

The 4th came and went for me mentally. It's such a fun holiday, but I just seemed to not really take note of it this year. My mind was wrapped around projects and travel plans in September.

Lucky for me, and our family, other people were a little more with it in regards to celebrations. We participated in our first neighborhood parade. The kids decorated their bicycles and rode around the circle. Even though it started at nine, we were all in need of some cool down. Thanks to some popcicles and sprinklers, the morning was a hit. Then we made a stop into Lowe's for some project helps and stopped in at the YMCA splash park for some fun.

(homemade ice cream sandwiches should count for minimal effort)

That night we had some good old 4th of July grill fun thanks to some thoughtful neighbors. I heard, but didn't see any fireworks, but did score some sweet plane tickets. $199 RT with taxes and a direct flight. I was happy.

Ooooh sometimes sweet plane ticket prices are BETTER than fireworks! Even with little planning, it looks like your family had fun, AND you got some great pics!

Wow, 199 round trip is something to celebrate in and of itself! Sounds like you guys had a great 4th. I just LOVE the YMCA sprinkler parks. Can't beat those man!

I know about the 199RT! Jake found them last night, and so we scored with them for Christmas. Yeah for us!

The kids look like they had a great time. Dad scored a major triumph on the new grill, and since Angela was still in the hospital, we brought some 4h of July fun to her. It is amazing how fun it is to try to create fun for someone else. It was actually Dad's great idea, but since I got to help, I got to have fun, too. I hope those aforementioned tickets are for SL.

It is crazy to see pictures of little talia walking around. Mia's festive hair was so cute and the ice cream sandwiches looked divine. Glad you had a fun day.

Sounds like a fun day! What a fun idea having a neighborhood parade! Too bad it was HOT. Where are you goes planning a trip too? I saw your blog about CA. And I must agree about the weather and the fact that you can open all the windows and cool the house down in the evening time. Nothing can beat it.
